Christine Perumal, Esq

Advisory Board

Christine Perumal is the Director of the Safe Horizon Domestic Violence Project. She oversees a program consisting of attorneys and paralegals who focus on representing low-income survivors of intimate partner violence through a trauma-informed and culturally competent lens in family, supreme and the integrated domestic violence courts throughout the five boroughs in New York City.


Christine was a former prosecutor at the Administration for Children Services in the Family Court Legal Services division in Queens County. Christine was also a former co-founder/partner of Perumal PLLC, a law firm that focused solely on representing clients in Family and Supreme throughout New York City and Long Island.


Christine is a member of the Lawyers Committee Against Domestic Violence in New York, the South Asian Indo-Caribbean Bar Association in Queens, and the South Asian Bar Association of New York.


Christine sits on the Advisory Board for Jahajee Sisters, a non-profit organization committed to developing leaders who organize against gender-based oppression and create paths for self-determination.


Christine also sits on the Board for The Fund for Modern Courts which is a court reform organization that focuses on improvement of the New York State court system and advocating for diverse, highly qualified and independent judiciary.
