Lois Marbach has a history of community activism and of being an Advocate for Women’s Rights and many social issues while fighting for Equality and Justice.
In 1976 she was the Founder & organizer of the Not for Profit Women’s Center in Queens. Certified in Peer Counseling, Suicide Intervention and Domestic Violence support, she ran a suicide prevention hotline and facilitated various rap groups and consciousness raising groups. She has also served as the Legislative Director of the Queens National Organization for Women and President of the Queens Women’s Political Caucus. She is proud to have served as a Commissioner on the NYC Commission on the Status of Women and the Board of Directors of New York NARAL.
Lois was a Candidate for NYS Senate in 1982 and Queens Borough President in 1986. She is a former Chairperson of the Queens New Democratic Coalition (NDC) and former Vice President of NYS NDC as well as the Chairperson of the Queens Coalition for Political Alternatives. She served as President of both the Eastern Queens Democratic Club and the Queens County Progressive Democratic Club. Lois is a former Member of Community Board 11, and served for 10 years on the Board of Trustees of the Queens Borough Public Library. Lois is a former Commissioner on the Workers Rights Board & a consultant for the NY City Council.
Lois Marbach is currently President of her local Civic Association the Oakland Gardens/Terrace Community Council and is the Founder of Progressive Voices United, a non-partisan political organization started in 2017.
Lois is a Democratic Political Consultant for socially conscious and progressive candidates and elected officials. As the owner of Promotional Strategies, she oversees marketing, promotion and advertising campaigns for unions, not-for profits, small businesses and organizes special events such as conferences and fundraising dinners and journals.
